CHELMARSH

Bridgnorth 4 miles; Ironbridge 12 miles.

The scattered village of Chelmarsh lies amidst the wonderful Shropshire countryside just 4 miles south of Bridgnorth and offers a charming village pub, a great reservoir, ideal for fishing and sailing, and a host of fantastic walks, cycle tracks and bridleways to explore. The nearby town of Bridgnorth lies in two distinctive halves, separated by the red sandstone ridge on which the town is built, and is connected by winding streets, flights of steps and for the weary traveller the funicular railway. The town also offers a bustling Saturday street market and relaxing strolls along the winding River Severn. In the areas surrounding Bridgnorth there are a wealth of country parks, National Trust houses, museums and picturesque Shropshire villages, as well as easy access to The Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford, and Ironbridge Gorge with its 10 museums and striking landscape. Shrewsbury, Ludlow, Church Stretton and Much Wenlock are all within easy reach of this delightful area.

The location of the cottage was fabulous - the children adored listening for the trains and waving to the passengers. The views and scenery were wonderful. There were a lot of easily accessible tourist attractions - chiefly the Severn Valley Railway and Ironbridge, and some wonderful walks nearby.

The setting of the property is superb being adjacent to the Severn Valley Railway and the River Severn. The owner was on site and could not have been more accommodating and friendly. In particular he gave his time and shared his geological and local knowledge with our two children. Deepest thanks. The wider area is superb with lots of intersting places to visit - notably Ironbridge. We spent three whole days there and still have things to see.
