Ref: 1147 Artist's Cottage
SHREWSBURY Shrewsbury, set into a loop of the River Severn, is often considered one of England's finest towns, famous for its timber framed, black and white buildings. The town offers a fine selection of shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as being home to Shrewsbury Abbey, founded in 1083 and famous as home to the fictional Brother Cadfael, whose chronicles were set in and inspired by the town. Shrewsbury Castle, an impressive sandstone building in beautiful gardens and grounds, dates in part from the 12th Century, and houses the Shropshire Regimental Museum. Peaceful Quarry Park, home to the annual Shrewsbury Flower Show each August, features a beautiful sunken floral area called The Dingle, championed by Percy Thrower, Park Superintendent for 28 years. Visit stately Attingham Park, an elegant 18th Century mansion, or simply take a gentle cruise along the river - an ideal base. NETLEY HALL COUNTRY ESTATE Shrewsbury 5 miles.

Feb 2006 | We loved Artists Cottage as it was of a very high standard. Everything was supplied, even the log store was replenished everyday. The staff at receipton were very helpful. We would certainly stay there again if we were going to Shropshire.
